A little fun on the Shafter and Lynndyl Subdivisions
Author: SF5953

I went out last night in hopes of catching a train on the ex Western Pacific route Shafter Subdivision. My other hope was that there would be some water. Everything was dried up last fall on the south side of the rails. I got what I wanted there was plenty of water to be had, and I got a train.

Then came a dilemma, as I got back to Lake Point there were 3 westbound backed up. The first was already committed on the LASL. It was was in the block waiting for a eastbound. I didn't know what the other 2 were going to do. I chose the LASL Lynndle sub.

7. Well the second westbound went on the lake. Would have made for some nice shots oh well.  UP 7961 7354 3-17-2017.
8. East bound UP 8178 at Lake Point, UT

11. UP 9352 what a surprise back from the dead. C40-8 looking close at the exhaust it appears to be running. Some was wrong though with the power as the train was really struggling getting between Lake Point and Erda which killed all chances for westbound 3.

Excellent photo set Steve.  Really pretty surroundings for train shots. Daughters are priceless at that age--great catch.
