Construction crews build a replacement bridge, left, for the span across the Washougal River in Washougal, Washington on a rainy Monday morning. 

The new bridge will replace the century-old structure on the former Spokane, Portland & Seattle line on the north bank of the Columbia River.

Thanks for the shot.  I am surprised, though, the railroad didn't opt for a two-track span.

True, but the long term plans are to double track through here!  I tought they would build a new bridge along the old one, move all traffic to the new brdige, and rebuild the old bridge completing the double tracking!  Seems like this would be more sensible.  Closing the line totally for two days seems like it would be more costly than the double tracking of the bridge!
