Lots of green & gold, but no leprechauns in Tehachapi!
Author: bearease

I wanted to take advantage of the perfect Spring weather and run up to Tehachapi on Friday before all the rain started up again (forcast for next week)
Here's a bit of what I saw:
1 & 2: From Woodford/Tehachapi Rd. looking Westward toward Tunnel 10. I hadn't photographed that area since the new construction.
3: UP 7880 from top of the hill overlooking the loop, but shooting Eastward back up toward Marcel.
More below...

More of my Friday in Tehachapi...
4. UP 7880 again on the 5th crossing just beyond the loop. From the same vantage point.
5. Same train a bit later down at Bealville
6. DPU heading down the hill

Last 3...

7:  BNSF 4433, the "Wine Train" as I've heard it called I believe, approaching Tunnel 2
8: Ducking into the tunnel
9: And the DPU

Hope everyone had as good a St. Patrick's day as I had!
Thanks for looking!

Those older C-44's really bark and roar with their larger 16-cylinder engines when grinding uphill down there.

In my ears, the BNSF 1000s,and 4000s even, along with UP 5700s have a certain "Growl" to them differing slightly from the others.

At least in My ears..

It's funny seeing all these trains I shot from different angles. I saw your comment on my post and yes that was us. Should've come up and say hi! I like the shots taken up above the loop. One of the most ideal weekends I have experienced on Tehachapi
