A Light Traffic Day On First Day Of Spring
Author: Ritzville

It was a Cold cloudy windy day in Ritzville, WA with some drips from the sky on the BNSF Lakeside Sub. The high-low was 48-29. More rain on the way. The MoW gang left today and didn't return leaving two flat cars behind on the team track. They may be all down in Sprague, WA with the flooding going on near the tracks. There was no traffic from 602am to 111pm. All grain so far today except one coal train I missed, It's been a light action day. Here are the catches from today and a couple from yeaterday.

3/20/2017

That 4 hour work window which apparently was not cleared by noon as expected did not help things in any way.

So what's the story on that depot at the south end of Connell, WA? The architecture does not follow the lines of the usual railroads in the area.

There is a new book out called Railroads of the Couer de Alenes, Revised edition which is full of old times and gives a good history of all area lines east of you and into the Palouse. A good read to fill in background for you if you are into that. Be sure to get the revised edition.

fbe,

I believe that is the former UP depot from the line that came from Hooper Jct.

Nice set of photos Larry.  Quite a few trains for such a slow day.  A huge amount of grain for sure.
