Western Railroad Discussion > After Work UP 2010 - GSR Blitz

With a quick tip that UP's Boy Scouts of America 100th Anniversary Unit would be making its way west across my area of Kansas yesterday afternoon I took a chance on an outing for it after work, a bit out of practice for me. By pure luck I was able to shoot it, but only once as it would beat me to Herington in convincing fashion. I ended up seeing 6 trains total but will only show 3 of the 5 I shot. All in all a fair 3 hours on the Golden State Route.

1) With its short train heavy with sand, UP 2010 is maxed out on the throttle as it nears the summit of the grade west of Alta Vista, that Run 8 momentum will rocket the train back up to speed and have it leave me in the dust.

2) UP 2704 and 2744 take the eastbound ANGNS towards White City, the short train is speeding along fairly on this spring evening.

3) Another eastbound was following along behind the autorack train but he got held up in the siding at White City, just east of town UP 8612 leads the opposing westbound grain train as the last bit of twilight drains from the sky.
