Phoenix operations
Author: rdlehmer

Hi all,

Road trip planned from Northern California to Phoenix in May. Can't just run down to the Sunset Route (as tempting as it looks) as I need to stay in metro Phoenix. What are daylight operations like, especially for the BNSF since I'll be coming from that direction.

Thanks in advance!

Ron

Ron, depends on where you want to stay. If you're open on location I'd try the Hampton out in Surprise. I say that because
Arizona doesn't observe Daylight Saving time and the interchange train out to the A&C at Castle Hot Springs runs really early!
The other interesting operation out there is the Ennis local which switches the branch giving some interesting scenery for an
otherwise built-up city.

If you can, make it west to the Wickenburg area. Nice area to shoot.
