Thursday's Guadalupe Turn

The Westbound Gemco to Guadalupe Local is passing under a one of a kind in these parts, oil company built steel supported ,timber span and railing bridge. It is inbetween Ellwood and Naples (SPs MP 356) most of the time there is a rent-a-cop parked dead center on the bridge to keep us surfers off the oil land.

Neat shot! Do the rails look rusted due to the moisture from the Ocean?

Yes the rail is permanently  rusted,  The ocean is only about a 1000 feet away.  When I worked the Coast years ago always carried a small container of WD 40 .  The switch locks would always be rusted,   Would squirt the WD into the shackle and lock tumbler channels to make them work properly ,

And these rails see about 6 to 10 trains a day too.
