Western Railroad Discussion > Lakeside Sub Reroutes in Salt Lake City

A pair of Union Pacific Lakeside Subdivision (ex-SP) regulars are stopped in Salt Lake City for a crew change. Soon they will resume their journey west rerouted via the Shafter Subdivision (ex-WP) to Alazon, Nevada.

At left is the North Platte to Roseville manifest and at right the North Platte to Milpitas autos. The two subdivisions are scheduled to resume normal bidirectional operations by April 1st. At that time, repairs to the weather damaged Lakeside Sub are expected to be complete. Get your shots while you can.

Last night I heard April 7.  Maybe you have more up to date info.

Just an estimate I heard today by a UP dispatcher. Time will tell, I guess.

I heard again today that April 7 is estimated for the return to normal bidirectional running.  So those of you that absolutely have to get a shot of trains off their usual routes, then be out there by April 1, but you might have more time than that.  Wish I was closer to the area.
