BNSF Detour?
Author: moose

Trackside in Green River, WY today, 25 March, a friend and I saw three BNSF units and a train of BNSF covered hoppers, led by a UP unit.  Since we seldoom see such sights in Wyoming I am wondering if there is some problem causing BNSF to detour on the UP. Any thoughts?

UP is accepting 1 BNSF empty grain detour a day running from the PNW to Nebraska and maybe Iowa, due to BNSF's congestion/weather issues. Was the lead unit UP4564?

Thanks for the information, Allen. The lead unit was already past us on our arrival so I didn't notice the number. The cars were indeed empty covered hoppers and they were eastbound, which I forgot to mention. Also , many were quite new and the number of tagged cars was fairly low.
