Western Railroad Discussion > NS 1017 through the Willamette ValleyDate: 03/26/17 20:35 NS 1017 through the Willamette Valley Author: shay2305 Here in the mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon if you want to watch Class I railroad operations about all you can expect is Yellow locomotives. This morning one of my Facebook pages had talk about a BNSF grain train with a NS locomotive leading getting ready to depart Eugene and head north (east for the SP people) towards Portland, OR. I headed out to Albany and wait for the train at the Amtrak station. Then I went to Salem for anther photo op at the Salem station. The UP dispatcher held the grain train south of Salem to wait for Amtrak train #11, Coast Starlight, to arrive. I didn't plan to leave the house due to the wet weather, however sometimes the wait is worth a few raindrops on the shoulder.
