Western Railroad Discussion > SPH&TS Convention?Date: 09/30/03 18:54 SPH&TS Convention? Author: BJRubino Can anyone tell me when the Southern Pacific H&TS Convention starts this year? I know that the first day is October 1st, but is it a morning or evening start?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, BJR Date: 09/30/03 19:43 Re: SPH&TS Convention? Author: Steamjocky The convention starts tomorrow, October 1st. The actual events and programs will start on Thursday. Tomorrow is for checking in and seeing the members you haven't seen since last year in Austin, TX and getting aquatinted with some new members. And yes, I'll be there. Leaving tomorrow morning to have a great 4 days. I'm actually looking forward to some of the programs.

Best Regards, Harry Date: 10/01/03 14:48 Re: SPH&TS Convention? Author: spfanatic Anybody know what the cost is at the door? I missed last year's in Austin because of the wife's surgery.
Now I'm gonna miss this year's because she's due any day. Nonetheless, I live 40 miles from the convention, I've got a cell phone so she can contact me when the contractions start....but damn, I don't want to miss another. From Redding to Portland to Bakersfiled, the conventions are great. Anybody in the Society know if I can pay on a daily basis? Date: 10/01/03 17:43 Re: SPH&TS Convention? There's a one-day rate for Friday to all presentations and exhibits which should be somewhere in the neighborhood of $40-60, from what I understand.. See ya there hopefully. Also happening Thursday afternoon will be a tour of the old SP Sacramento shops and a ride behind an SP steam engine on the State Railroad Museum's tourist line. The main day for clinics will be Friday, all day. There will also be some clinics Saturday morning. |
