A 1970 visit to Colorado and Southern's Rice yard, in Denver, yielded this C&S SD9 and the Santa Fe E8Am, used on the Denver-La Junta connection train, waiting for the call.

What a lovely shot. The tracks the units are occupying were steam serviceing tracks. And in 58/9, the man keeping the coal chute full said he could hardly keep up. Steam or diesel one can only sigh about rice yard memories.
