Western Railroad Discussion > The Austin LoopsDate: 07/05/05 02:23 The Austin Loops Author: funnelfan The Austin Loops on MRL's Mullan Pass aren't exactly easy to photograph, at least so much in straightforward manner. Impressive to look at sure, but it requires some thinking and hiking to try and capture some essence of the loops.

Are these eastbounds or westbounds...maybe head and rear of same train? Date: 07/05/05 08:33 Re: The Austin Loops Author: TCnR but it requires some thinking and hiking to

Is Austin still a quiet area, no houses except for the farmhouse under the trestle (now there's a quiet spot). Is the phrase 'essence of the loops' where the phrase S-curves originates? It adds a personal touch compared to the generic 3/4 roster shot!
