Steam & Excursion > Another photo from the late '40sDate: 04/27/12 23:18 Another photo from the late '40s Author: choochoocharlie This is my Fathers favorite engine. This is another class F-5 2-8-0 New Haven engine aquired from the Central New England railroad by the NYNH&H in 1927. Probably taken in Waterbury Connecticut near the roundhouse on June 28th, 1948. Notice the replacement number plate under the headlight. My Father was given the original number plate and so a replacement was made for it. Most all of New Havens steam engines were basically history by 1950. One of the roads to dieselize early.

------------------------------------------------------- > What is Rule S92 on the pilot? In the Standard Code and rule books based on it, Rule 92 states that "A train must not leave a station in advance of its schedule leaving time." And there's no S (single track) or D (double track) variant. Rule 93, however, governs movements on main tracks within yard limits, and some railroads did split it into S and D variants: S-93: "Within yard limits the main track may be used, clearing first class trains when due to leave the last station where time is shown. In case of failure to clear the main track, protection must be given as prescribed by Rule 99. Within yard limits the main track may be used without protecting against second and inferior class, extra trains and engines. Within yard limits second and inferior class, extra trains and engines must move at restricted speed." D-93: "Within yard limits when running against the current of traffic or on a portion of double or three or more tracks used as single track, all trains and engines must move at restricted speed." So maybe the NYH&H rule book had some variations. Date: 04/29/12 18:31 Re: Another photo from the late '40s Author: 6ET spnudge Wrote:
