Missing is second Amtrak #809 which did not make the trip from Williams to the canyon where these photos were taken.

I am curious why the Amtrak unit went to the Grand Canyon. Didn't GCRY have a diesel that could have been unsed?

Yes - good job on the car-by-car shots in very good light. As Notch16 noted, many people over look getting good shots of the cars in the consist, many of which are just as historic as the big black things on the head end.

informative, helpful. Helps me to be a part of the adventure. Some one commented about closed doors; it is a requirement of CCCRHS for hosts to close doors for a run by. Folks want to see the trains not hosts faces or empty spaces

Amtrak diesel went for Head End Power.

GCR does not have HEP diesels.
