Black River and Western #60 - More!
Author: Mgoldman

Congratulations to the crew who've put a lot of time and effort towards the
restoration of this former Great Western 2-8-0 from Colorado! Chalk another
steam engine to the growing list of operational steam. This makes three for
New Jersey, a number likely to double down the track!

Here are some pictures from my second ever visit - my first visit was well
over a decade ago chasing a CNJ painted diesel. A beautiful ride but a
difficult to photograph line to be sure - it should be interesting to see
what opportunities present themselves.

Keep an eye on www.lerroproductions.com for news of a rescheduled photo
charter (due to Hurricane Sandy's rampage which fell a few trees and left
parts of the area without power).

To the pics!

/Mitch

Down the pike -

0-6-0, former US Army #4039 and... the 1914 built 36"
gauge 2-6-0 H.K. Porter also at Allaire, NJ.

Hot damn, if I saw her in person, I'd be in the same boat!

You guys should've seen the girl on the afternoon run yesterday... she waved at me, so needless to say I've got you all beat.

Slobbering aside, here's a few from the weekend. What a great trip! Always fun to run into you Mitch.

Tangshan Locomotive Works #142 may have been more fitting in your second shot by
the Nissan Motors dealer, lol.

Nice shots - more if you got 'em!

Good catching up with you, Mike!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict that if you keep practicing, you're gonna make a hell of a rail photographer.

Great stuff Mitch! I like that our shots are different from each other - adds some vareity! The shot at the S-curve turned out to be very nice, wished I had gone there! The shot on the Pennsy Ave. bridge turned out neat as well.

And Mike you managed to get the scenic car dealership in your well-lit shot as well. I like your B&W at Flemington, very nice.

I didn't get to see 60 as a whole but here are two shots of her main wheel being worked on.

Yeah, she might have liked to have a copy of this wonderful shot, too?!? A steamy gal like that is pretty rare--bring back the old "Railroad" magazine girl/train shots!
