The short rebirth of the 2716

The first photo (1979) is from the 2716's tow from the Kentucky RR Museum, then in Louisville with a Clinchfield covered wagon providing the power. The next two (1982) are just face shots of the engine after restoration. A really fine looking steamer especially after the Southern Railway redecorated it.

Cool to see what appears to be an eagle atop the headlight.

I was bussing tables in the Travelers' Fare (ex Southern Dining Car) with Mrs. Dottie Lamb, Sam and Bonnie Ferrel, Andy Hendee, Chef Carl Fairchild and Captain George Bressler. Ah, the good ole days. Mr. Lamb was somewhere in his signature maroon jacket herding photographers, I'm sure. I do believe the Freer family was holding down the fort in the Commissary car and Mike Ray was probably chasing in his gold Chevy.
Thank you for posting your photos.
