On Sunday, November 18, 2012, the Modesto Bee reported that Sierra Railway 3, 4-6-0 (Rogers 4493 / 1891), will travel to Sonora, California on Saturday, December 1, 2012:

"SONORA -- Sierra Railroad steam locomotive No. 3 will visit Sonora on December 1 as thanks for those who helped save Railtown 1897 State Historic Park from budget cuts.

The free event, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Washington Street and Hospital Road, will feature Santa, caroling and warm drinks.

The event is sponsored by the park, the Sonora Rotary and Kiwanis clubs, Sierra Northern Railway, the California State Railroad Museum Foundation, and J.S. West & Cos."

Another well-informed friend provided these additional insights:

On December 1, Sierra Railway 3 will operate light-engine, tender first, from Jamestown to Sonora. Departure time from Jamestown is uncertain. Also on hand at Sonora will be one suburban coach and Sierra Railway 7 caboose. The locomotive, passenger car and caboose will all be 'lit up' (with lights).
