Steam powered revenue freights from 2012 - in COLOR!
Author: Mgoldman

Here are a few photos captured from the Strasburg Rail Road on September 12th, 2012 while
they were running steam powered revenue freight runs from Leaman Place Junction back to
the yard in Ronks (aka: Strasburg, PA).

This series features their largest engine - Great Western 2-10-0 #90 doing what she was
built for!

Enjoy!

#1 6:18 AM simmering under a crescent Moon

#2 Fueled, lubed and ready to run as soon as she couples to the caboose

#3 Caboose hop (with paying passengers)

Second set:

#4 Leaman Place Junction on the Keystone Corridor with freight left by Norfolk Southern

#5 Working hard through Carpenter's

A special thanks to the crew at the Strasburg Rail Road for making such an unlikely event
a reality in 2012. What a great group of folks and a credit to the hobby and an American
way of life relived.

Hope you enjoyed the show!

/Mitch

Pushing my Canon 7D to it's limits!

Here's a nice EXIF utility, though there are plenty
more. Comes in handy!

Stunning shots and who would have known that steam could haul freight.

In pic one, are they restoring the wreck crane?

It's been sitting there for some time - don't know
if it works or what future plans are. I assume
it'll sit a bit longer.

'Course, if they want "in" on that Nevada Northern
action...

Thanks. Last time I saw it, it was sitting derelict down by the mill.
