Steam & Excursion > RIP Hugh Crane ... CO&E FounderDate: 12/08/12 18:18 RIP Hugh Crane ... CO&E Founder Author: burlingtonjohn Saw on the Trains Magazine newswire that Hugh Crane, the founder of the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad passed away a week ago. The CO&E was noted for running steam power in freight service until 1986. As young lads barely 18 years old, Q-GP30 and myself made the pilgrimage to Marion Illinois and spent a couple of days railfanning the CO&E. Got to visit with Mr. Crane and for the first time in our lives, shoot steam in freight service.
A humble tip of this old Squid's cover to Mr Crane ... Respectfully, Burlington John Date: 12/08/12 22:15 Re: RIP Hugh Crane ... CO&E Founder Author: wpjones Did one of these engines end up at Boone ,Ia for a while?
Steve Date: 12/09/12 06:08 Re: RIP Hugh Crane ... CO&E Founder Author: burlingtonjohn Steve, the 17 is in Boone on static display.
