Steam & Excursion > Speaking of Big Boys...Date: 12/09/12 10:56 Speaking of Big Boys... Author: Copy19 I painted this in 1999 of the 4019 (the engine made famous in the Weber Canyon color photo with all the smoke). The painting was used as Dick Davidson's personal Christmas Card. The railroad's graphics art department added a wreath to the front of the locomotive for the card. As the artist I was unhappy about that, but what can you do? I signed off.
Maybe the mysterious third party who wants to restore a Big Boy can come up with a string of ice-cooled, 40-foot PFE cars to go with it. :-) John Bromley UP Retired in Omaha Date: 12/09/12 11:09 Re: Speaking of Big Boys... Author: LoggerHogger Very well done John!

He had many commissions to do the corporate UP Xmas cards, a couple of special ornaments decorated with his scenes, and special paintings to hang in the corporate offices and the business train cars. 10 years ago we commissioned him to do a special painting for us of the 4449 running through prune orchards at Coyote-------it is a gem!! I used to rotate some of them back and forth between the office and home. John Date: 12/10/12 02:00 Re: Speaking of Big Boys... Author: john1082 One word:

Lynn used to tell people I was the only one on the crew who was on a 1 to 1 size with the locomotives. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY |
