Photo #26. That service stop was at Congress, Arizona, not Prescott. The special did not go through Prescott. There are no longer tracks at Prescott.

Picture #25 looks like a Mormon pioneer family--it's the clothing.

GREAT photos, Chris! Nice to see some
folks I know as Car Hosts. So glad you
got to ride! Looking forward to more of
your nice photos of the rest of the trip.

Excellent series of photos and captions. What I would have given to ride that trip.

I especially like the second to the last shot!

Great coverage, Chris. 3751 is the locomotive that renewed my interest in steam. Never would have run into you without her starting me out. It's been nothing but fun since.

Excellent series! The fellow that got stopped had the rider in the back of the pickup..likely that isnt legal.

The person who was stopped was driving a car, not a pick up, and it was likely due to pacing at a slow speed holding up traffic. Nobody goes 15 mph in Arizona (except for us, apparently ;)

Great report, and great to sense the riding of the train.
Watching trains go by is nice, but going somewhere is what it is (was) all about, it's about motion, distance, time, geography, and connecting people.
You captured all of that very well.

Really like the second to last one on the first page, Chris. That sure was a long, but fun trip!

Great shots Chris, the thing that screwed the schedule wasn't because 4449s tender was BO, but the stupid slow orders on all the bridges! i mean come on, could've been a much better outing!

Not Mormon pioneers... modern-day polygamists!

I remember the ostriches, it was very funny watching them scatter.

I just finished working on a shot of 3751 in Parker between 3:00-3:40 AM, so it seems like a good time to show it along with the great trip photos (if y'all don't mind).

This is 60 shots as a multi-row panorama, focus stacked so everything is sharp, and a four shot HDR to get the texture on one of the wheels that was reflecting my light to the left of this view.

Canon 5DmkII, 70-200 f4L @ 70mm, ISO 320, f11, 20 sec exposure time each except the 10, 5, 2.5 sec HDR shots.

19,740 x 8,320 pixels, 164.2 megapixels, 54.8 x 23.1 inches @ 360ppi.

The second photo is a full resolution detail showing the texture that I love to capture with these large format photos.
