Steam & Excursion > Urban Steam, Tacoma WADate: 07/14/13 08:10 Urban Steam, Tacoma WA Author: Auburn_Ed Every once in a while the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad brings an engine down to Tacoma to celebrate various occasions. Polson #70 made such a trip in 2011, seen here on a run up the Tacoma Hill (ex-Milw).

getting various angles of #70 blasting up the canyon and the bark of the engine was just marvelous. I have ridden behind her at Mt. Rainier Scenic RR and she really puts on a great show there too. We are definitely fortunate to have this "old beauty" running in our backyard here in Washington. Date: 07/15/13 12:29 Re: Urban Steam, Tacoma WA Author: 4000Class The crews have given #70 a name. What is it?

Well, one MRSR employee gave the #70 a name and it seems to have stuck (regardless of my opinion on the matter). Since she's a soaker, the crews call her "Miss Piggy." She definitely snorts good and loud, that's for sure. There's wonderful irony here, too, but I won't go into my high school misadventures. Brian Wise General Manager Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad |
