All great pics,tc... but you outdid yourself with the #9 pic! If you look real close, you won't see the cyclone fence ;) Santa Fe... all the way to San Berdoo!

Good observation! The Engineer in those photos is Ed Dickens from the Union Pacific, which seems a bit odd that a UP Manager would be the Engineer of the Santa Fe 3751, on an Amtrak move over the BNSF.

Wasn't this a Metrolink move over Metrolink (San Gabriel Sub)?

I've seen Ed run the ATSF 3751 on past trips. I still think it is a bit odd for a variety of reasons.

I wish that I had been in Socal to see the 3751 run. It is such a good looking engine.

Man in the photo is not Ed, although he was on board. UP has trackage rights on about half the mileage.

The man in the close-up photo #5 above is indeed Ed Dickens!

Yep. From bumping post to bumping post, this run was 100% on Metrolink tracks.

Let's get one thing straight, Bill Stetler was the Engineer. Ed Dickens was the Fireman.

I too had heard that Bill ran and Ed fired, but looking at that picture it was really hard to tell. If its Bill then he shaved off his goatee.

Why then is Ed on the Engineer's side window? I'd know Ed from a mile away. It is him in picture 2,3 & 5.

The engineer was Bill Stetler and the fireman was Ed Dickens. There is no argument or room for interpretation. This is a fact.

Great pics, Tim. Not sure about the Ed Dickens controversy, but I agree that Pic 9 at Pomona is awesome and pure Santa Fe!
