Steam & Excursion > Surprise - 3751 Was Out Today

All right - annoying subject line... but here's some more 3751 from today.

I broke my cardinal rule - I went out without a plan. Heck I wasn't even going to bother with the clouds, but then I did and without a plan. That never turns out well. I really had no idea where I was going... randomly got it at CP Bassett about 200 yards east of the sun light.

And then caught it in Covina where I just wish the angle had been tighter and included more lens lice.

Not the same experience that we had last year, no, Ryan.

You did good, Charles - I like your shot at Glendora Avenue in Covina. I've never taken a picture from that angle there, since I felt it was too close for a Metrolink train zooming past at 60+ mph. But for the steamer, that's a neat spot.

Unseen in that shot is there were a lot of folk next to me and behind me who were much closer to the track (including a guy whom I'm pretty sure was a RR employee there with his kids). I was very surprised to be the only person who stepped away before the train reached us (and no, it was not even close to track speed there).

So do I . Why was the headlight not on?

the headlight was defintely on. My guess is that the high position of the sun (even with the clouds) caused the light not to register...

But this is just a wild guess...
