I think the book was published in the late 1960s. I don't have my copy at hand to check the exact publication year. In any case, Doyle has done a great job.

AJ Date: 04/16/14 10:14 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: joeygooganelli When were these shots taken? I know it's getting close to being done. How far out do you think it is from being "finished"?
Joe Date: 04/16/14 11:09 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: Cumbresfan It's at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center in Portland. Don't know how close to it is to running. Looks like Doyle in the background.

Jeez, I can hear Doyle now! stevo Date: 04/16/14 15:15 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: NWClassJ Amazing what Doyle has accomplished...the NKP would be proud.
Date: 04/16/14 15:38 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: BoilingMan It's going to be a while till the PA is up and running. With the '49 apart, and everyone finally able to exhale after the move into the new shop, for Doyle the PA is far more an amusement than an urgent priority.
In good time... Date: 04/16/14 21:23 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: MarkMeoff Needs a bath

I met him at Owosso when the 4449 was there and though I was a complete stranger, he was friendly. I can imagine that he was tired too. Jim Boyd was there and I spoke with him too. That was the first and last time I saw Jim but at least I got to meet him in person.

Jeez. Date: 04/20/14 01:33 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: railwaybaron Where's the bell???
Date: 04/20/14 10:44 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: BoilingMan Not 100% sure- but I don't think they all had them.
I don't think NKP 190 did. Posted from iPhone Date: 04/20/14 21:12 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: SD45X Need that and a couple sharks at Spencer.......

------------------------------------------------------- > Where's the bell??? Up underneath the frame, as it was delivered, similar to an EMD "F" or "E" unit. There was no way that Doyle was going to butcher the new nose on his 190, in order to put that "bell notch" in there as the NKP modified the units too. Date: 04/21/14 10:40 Re: No, No, see.. it's Honorary Author: BoilingMan Jack, I looked this up (though not in depth) and the NKP PA's came in 2 orders about a year apart. Is it possable the 2nd order didn't get the bell- or was that a home done mod that came later? I found 'in service' photo's of 190 w/o the bell- in fact, I haven't found one WITH the bell!
