Southern 630
Author: KevinTheKrazy1

Since nobody has shared anything on the 630... Last weekend was a perfect Spring weekend for the Southern 630. Trips went very well on a line that was not difficult to chase. 1st shot is entering the tunnel at Raitt. 2nd shot is storming uphill along Woodman Creek Rd near Woodman, KY and the 3rd shot is just west of the tunnel at Raitt. Unfortunately, most of the signal shots were difficult to access as they are all NKP bracket style signals along the branch.

Hi MJV1988...ever see a steam locomotive in regular service? That's the way MOST of them look.

Yes actually i have. Just didn't think an EXCURSION engine would! I bet if 844, 611 or 4449 looked like that today we'd have a whole lot of people complaining.

I think with all the time and effort into the repairs they probably ran short of "detailing" hours. I think a little rust and road looks cool on this normally pristine locomotive. EDIT! Sorry Kevin you Krazy1, great shot, thanks so much for posting them!

Cheers, Dave

I thought maybe that was the case also since they were working alot to get it ready a few weeks ago. Just surprised that it had an "in reg. service" look to it. Glad it's running which is most important. Job well done and a big thanks to TVRM on her and 4501 hopefully soon.....and yes I hope it's black also.

My preferences tend towards railroads in the West Coast, Rocky Mountain States and Upper Midwest. That said, the scenery in these photos, particularly in the second photo, is much nicer than anything seen in the posted photos of the 3751's route from Los Angeles to San Bernardino.

Thanks for sharing.
