That being said, there's not really anything operable in the east bigger than 611 is there? It just rules out a static display with, say, 1218 and 2156 there with 611 around the roundhouse. -K Date: 06/01/14 11:29 Re: What's next at Spencer? Author: badtanker1987 My dream would be a steam gathering of 4-8-4s. UP 844, SP 4449, ATSF 2936, ATSF 3751, SP@S 700, C&O 614, Milwaukee Road 261, Reading 2100, Cotton Belt 819, GTW 6325, GTW 6325, along with N&W 611 of course. I know that would be a long ways off.

Towing many/most of those steam locomotives to Spencer would be an absolute NO-NO, unlike simply towing dead diesels. Operating any of those steam locomotives to Spencer would be an enormous expense! Alcos would be cool, but seems unlikely since I don't think NCTM has any. The 4-8-4 idea would be great or a Southern/NW steam event. 2012 NS heritage 2014 Streamliners 2016 ??? From all the pictures, it looked like a great event this year. Was turnout good? Date: 06/02/14 06:38 Re: What's next at Spencer? Author: Keystone1 How much was the entrance fee?
Date: 06/02/14 06:47 Re: What's next at Spencer? Author: alco636 That's a nice dream. HotWater is correct concerning issues of getting locomotives there. May I suggest we donate a few dollars to Spencer, and share our enthusiasm for whatever could happen next? I will.
A welcome back under steam 611 event would seem logical at some point. When she's finished, and hot. wabash2800 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Steam locomotives from all over the continent? I > can dream can't I? ------------------------------------------------------- > How much was the entrance fee? Depended on how many days you went or if you bought tickets online or at the booth. For me, it was $126.00 for all 4 days ( thursday preview, plus a fri/sat/sun combo pass ) plus I sprung for one night photo at the gate for 25 bucks. I thought it was more than worth it.
