Steam & Excursion > Steam Returns to the Santa Cruz BoardwalkDate: 07/11/14 17:32 Steam Returns to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Author: shed47 Santa Cruz Portland Cement 0-4-0T #2(H.K. Porter 1909) is making a guest appearance this weekend on the Santa Cruz & Monterey Bay R.R. with two roundtrips Saturday and Sunday between the Boardwalk and m.p. 23 near Wilder Ranch on the line to Davenport. Running on the Santa Cruz, Big Trees & Pacific between Felton and Santa Cruz will add to the mileage the tank engine will rack up. Details as follows:
http://www.roaringcamp.com/newsletter SCPC #2 is seen making its way down Chestnut St. in Santa Cruz this morning and passing the wig wag at Chestnut and Lincoln. Yes, Santa Cruz can experience congestion in July as the two spot crawls its way through traffic on the Boardwalk. Edited 5 time(s). Last edit at 07/11/14 19:58 by shed47. Marty Bernard Date: 07/11/14 22:46 Re: Steam Return to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Author: CrudPunko That's great to see steam on the old Felton line again.

Jeff Posted from Android Date: 07/11/14 22:59 Re: Steam Return to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Author: TonyJ These photos are killing me. I wish I didn't have so many commitments here in Oregon, otherwise I'd be taking pictures there in Santa Cruz too.

Less trains?

We were there yesterday, and all I can say it is epic. For lovers of steam locomotives and railroading, this is one of the neatest stories. The H. K. Porter. Santa Cruz Portland Cement #2 has returned to her home area after more than 80 years. A steam locomotive is running again in the Santa Cruz/Davenport area. The last steam train to run there was some 50 plus years ago! A real happening this weekend, and an event to make all steam fans proud! The photos are just great! John Here, the Porter and her train are arriving back at Roaring Camp in Felton at the end of Friday's run in Santa Cruz. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/12/14 17:41 by SCPCno2. Nathan Date: 07/13/14 10:07 Re: Steam Returns to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Author: tviano So, kind of curious. Did they run it backwards from the Boardwalk to Felton because there's no wye in Felton?
Also, who owns this locomotive? How did they get it to Roaring Camp? Posted from Android Date: 07/13/14 16:21 Re: Steam Returns to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Author: up421 tviano Wrote:

It arrived by a low boy truck after visiting the Niles Canyon Railway earlier this year for the Tank engine festival. Link to the SCPC #2 website: http://www.scpc2.com/ Bob Edited 1 time(s).
