My wife and son rode this trip from Ludlow, KY to Hamilton, OH on the NS. It was sometime around 1987 (corrected to 1991). I'm sure John Craft can pinpoint it.

Picture #3 is arriving in Hamilton, OH and moving onto the CSX. Please note all the neat B&O position signals.

Here, again, is the 4501 in all of it's GREEN glory, as it should be with gold trim, silver smokebox, and RED cab interior. Gorgeous. All it needs are a couple American flags and it'd be perfect... And it's not black.

And the other steamer for next year, the 611. Two early morning shots leaving the best smelling place in the world, Ludlow, KY in 1992. Steam is up, ready for the slog up Erlanger Hill.

Wonder what color they will paint the 4501?

After going out of service in late 1985, 4501 was towed to Chattanooga in January 1987. TVRM members returned it to service for a May 1989 private trip to Cleveland, but it wasn't until June of 1991 that 4501 powered an NS excursion again.

This is most likely a Ludlow - Muncie trip on September 29, 1991.

Watching the 611 head up Erlanger was always a thrill, hopefully a repeat is in the future.

Thanks, John. My son could not remember how old he was for that trip. Usually he is unfailing. None of the slides were marked and I am not good with dates that far back.
