Two days at Cass

Spent 2 days this week at Cass.

1) 6, 5, and 11 were all hot in the ready tracks, with 4 being worked on on the shop lead.
2) 5 leaving town with the morning Whittaker train.
3) Big Shay 6 taking a drink at the tank at Oats Creek

4) 6 at the top.
5) The view from Bald Nob.
6) The next morning, 11 being hostled out.

7) 6 was used to move 5, so as 11 could be pulled out.
8) Progress on the Climax.
9) 6 leaving with the Bald Nob train.

13) 5's engineer does some work before the days train. (this one is a bit out of order..)
14)Fireman (firewomen) Amy shoveling a load into 11 on the trip up.
15) The engineer on 11 beginning to shove up the second switchback.

I accidently got the order mixed up, so here are the rest, which should be up 2 more posts.

1) 11 pushing up the hill at Gum Road.
2) 11 pushing up the 6% towards the lower switchback.
3) 11 pushing her train towards Gum Road.

Thanks for that video, took me back to the first trip I took on the Georgetown Loop in CO. LOVE the sound of a Shay as it "speeds" up the hill!

That video doesn't do the whistle justice, you have to be there in person to hear it properly. Down at the station the whistle echoes off of the hillside and the chills crawl up your back. And the engineer really knows how to blow it.
