Steam & Excursion > The dormant EBT

Paid a recent visit to the dormant East Broad Top RR Orbisonia, PA. For the first time since its existence as a tourist railroad nothing has run. There are issues as to whom will operate it, in the mean time Mother Nature is slowly taking over. This is a treasure that hopefully will survive.

Just goes to prove that things will change and not always for the better. When I look back, I regret not going and riding. That's been added to my list of lost opportunities. The list includes:

- N&W Steam over Saluda
- RGZ with my spouse (although I did ride alone in 1977 and could have anytime after 12/77).
- Waiting for a MILW electric. I was there when the lines were charged - but went off elsewhere to see other traffic.
- Riding the RDC out of Victoria
- See the RI combine their Rocky Mountain Rocket at Limon.


There are others but hard to type through the tears.....

Brings back memories from 1985 when a friend and I spent
a day there riding and chasing trains!

It is sad to see it sitting doing nothing, but at least
it is still intact and waiting for a brighter future!
