Camelback "Steam" Locomotive in Lansdale, Pa Today
Author: RDG630

As part of Lansdale, Pa's Founders Day celebration the Reading Company Technical & Historical Society gave rides on its Reading Company A5a Class Camelback "locomotive". The vehicle which rides on the frame of a pickup truck has sound affects and always attracts a lot of attention.

The "Engineer" sits on the left side of the cab, which seems odd. Besides, what does this stupid looking thing have to do with "Steam Railroading"?

Oh Cmon, it's not exactly my vehicle of choice but I wouldn't go so far as to call it stupid.

Oh c'mon Jack. Those guys went to a lot of work to put that "engine" together, and then to get it street legal with insurance. Give'em a brake, and let's concentrate on getting the Big Boy running.

Better than some "steam tribute" locomotive mockups I've seen, and the "ditch lights" are part of being street-legal.
