Steam & Excursion > An H.K. Porter Gathering at ArdenwoodDate: 09/01/14 15:30 An H.K. Porter Gathering at Ardenwood Author: shed47 Ardenwood Historic Farm held their 14th annual Washington Township Railroad Fair this Labor Day weekend on their 3' gauge rail line in Fremont, CA. The visiting steam power was again Antelope & Western 0-4-0T #1 (H.K. Porter 1889) and Cortez Mining 0-4-0T #1 "Ann Marie" (H.K. Porter 1890).
Every three car train observed this morning between Ardenwood depot and Deer Park was filled to capacity. The A&W one spot is seen in three views this morning moving these "tonnage" trains. Date: 09/01/14 15:31 Re: An H.K. Porter Gathering at Ardenwood Author: shed47 Cortez Mining #1 heads off on another high speed run from Deer Park to Ardenwood. The two #1's took turns with the same three car consist always pulling(no shoves).

I was there many years ago when they were running "hayburner" power and as a bonus those eucalyptus trees were laden with migrating butterflies.
