Ten-Mile Branch History and Mementoes
Author: africansteam

Martin’s recent post on California Western’s Ten-Mile branch reminded me that a surprising number of artifacts have been preserved from locomotives that worked the branch.

Seen here from left to right are the builders plate for CW 2-6-2T No. 11, sister to number 12, the spot plate from No. 12 herself and lastly, the whistle from CW 2-8-0 No. 41, former Sierra Railway No. 22.

All are now in the collection of a gentleman whose grandfather worked for the CWR.

The controversy surrounding the trestle in Martin's photo intrigued me so I did a bit of research and found this site, which appears to show the trestle in Martin's picture.

All images on the site can be enlarged, and the map is particularly interesting.
