Steam & Excursion > Walking in at RockwoodDate: 09/28/14 09:08 Walking in at Rockwood Author: Auburn_Ed Last evening I hiked in and out of the Highline at Rockwood. On the way back from the first shot I encontered this fellow (girl?) Sorry for the poor quality, I was shaking a bit. (Nature photographer, I am NOT). Shot is NOT telephoto, animal was about ten feet away. Just kept walking.

BTW. Don't forget to drop your pants off at the nearest dry cleaners. I'm old enough to remember when the tracks along the cliff looked like they were falling apart and also when you couldn't make that walk in.
As far as the "other" shot. Looks more like a bobcat to me than a mountain lion. Had it been a lion, I'm not sure you would have escaped unscathed. Date: 09/28/14 12:34 Re: Walking in at Rockwood Author: crackerjackhoghead Bobcat. Not going to bother you unless you try to wrestle it.
Date: 09/28/14 16:01 Re: Walking in at Rockwood Author: Auburn_Ed I have seen bobcats before. They pretty much will leave a human alone, but it still rattled me for a few minutes. And, yes, I know that if it had been a cougar, I would have been in big trouble. I just wish my camera had been in auto mode instead of shutter priority, since the f-stop was way up there and the shutter was slow.

If it were a mountain lion, or a cougar??, I would not necessarily assume they would go into auto-attack mode, however. I would not push my luck, though! /Mitch Date: 09/28/14 20:13 Re: Walking in at Rockwood Author: SSW41 Mgoldman Wrote:
