Is there any audio of this whistle somewhere?

Nice sunny shots Ed. How 'bout a chugging, whistling video for us all. I heard there were some grades on that line.

DOES IT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT?!?!

Great footage, Ed! Love that whistle and 425 is the
perfect compliment to that! I am rather amazed that
this engine does not draw a bigger out of state crowd.

It's such an impressive and LARGE yet "local" engine.
Arrived early at Duryea, PA (near Scranton, PA) yesterday
and just sat and gazed at the engine's impressiveness
early Sunday morning (while not blocking anyone's view,
lol - just stood back and took it in). Highly recommend
all, near and far to come check out this engine on it's
next run in October:

You'll have to chase - tickets are sold out! Great news
for steam - wondering, now - what's the best way to sponsor
/donate to the R&N short of purchasing a non-available
ticket?

/Mitch

PS - Admin - Video of the Day material, here - even if
#425 was just featured! No such thing as too much of
a good thing!

PSS - Ed - was it hard to gather all those birds back
into their cages??

I have never seen the engine, but I am curious does the 425 have its original whistle?

Here's your chance to support steam without buying a ticket, MGoldman:

Maybe UP needs to try some crowdfunding, too.

Great video, Ed!

I really like the sound of that whistle on the 425. I am looking forward to seeing it in two weeks. Hopefully, they'll keep that whistle on it.

Another well done job with the photos and video Ed!

Will do - however, it appears that all donations
go towards CNJ #113. Very kind of the R&N.

Maybe, like the WMSR - they should offer a choice
on how your donation is used. WMSR offered a
choice between #1309, a WM passenger car and a
freight car.

Dear Railfan community,

The Reading & Northern Railroad in conjunction with the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway has in the past, as is still, making a concerted effort to afford the fans, enthusiasts & photographers among you, a wide variety of steam locomotive opportunities for cab rides, regular rides, open air coach rides & of course many photo opportunities. These varied opportunities allow young & old alike to relive the exciting & historic days of “steam” – an era long gone. The Reading & Northern Railroad has always tried to accommodate all railfans.

Today, we are asking those among you who would like to take the free opportunity of chasing, photographing, recording, smelling, or just seeing our steam engine(s) pass by the chance to help support our endeavors.

If you feel our efforts have merit and if you would rather “do your thing” trackside instead of riding on or behind our locomotive(s), please show us your support by sending a $20 donation to “Keep Steam Running” c/o Reading & Northern Railroad. This will let us know you are behind us in every way.

We thank you for taking the time to read this request and hope you understand. Your support is vital for steam continuance.

Don't miss out on the chance to "Support Steam".

Send all donations to Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad: PO Box 218 Port Clinton, PA 19542

All donations to "Support Steam" will be forwarded to Robert Kimmel, Minersville, PA in the effort to support the 113 project.

Andy and company. That is awfully generous of you. I'm sending $20 tonight. BTW, how 'bout a second fund for #2102? (Shall we start a third fund, to paint #425 black again?) Just suggesting.
