Steam & Excursion > Do you know this large brass whistleDate: 09/29/14 22:06 Do you know this large brass whistle Author: MRS11813 This is one large Single note Hooter last time on steam in 1947.
Came from a 2-6-0 that Martin has the builders plate to. Date: 09/29/14 22:12 Re: Do you know this large brass whistle Author: lwilton I've heard of dual-gage track, but that sure looks like some bit of multi-gage track there in front of that engine!

Here is the whistle in service. Great to hear her in action again. Martin Date: 09/30/14 06:33 Re: Do you know this large brass whistle Author: MRS11813 Martin
It was a fun day getting the whistle out for a ride on a live loco after being stored in the shop for 67 years. When I found the whistle in the company shop it was tarnished and dirty. After cleaning and polishing we think it was built by the company machinists in Modesto many years ago. The old valve was in poor condition so I used my personnel one that goes under my German 052 class 2-10-0 Hooter. The German Hooter was obtained while on duty with the 714th Railway Battalion and sounds very good also. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/30/14 19:53 by ATSFlocal73-74. |
