Sunday on the R&N, Cars, Trains and Heig
Author: chessie-2117

I'm working on editing the photos and eventually posting them to Flickr,
but in the meantime, here's a threesome from the day's fun.

1. The train lovers among us will be kind of put out by the car distraction,
the car lovers among us may never let our eyes wander back to the train,
while those who love both car and train may find this perfect. Image from
Duryea, Pa.

2. A certain Mitch Goldman says, "don't worry, it's a steep climb, but not
a real long, difficult climb". REALLY!! Half way up, I'm in not to good
of shape, three quarters of the way, I'm somewhere close to dead. By
the time I got to where the image was taken, I was worried that when
this was all said and done, I would be dead! Many thanks to Mitch for
the encouragement to get it done. It was worth it. Image from the clouds
of Pennsylvania.

3. Mitch...."don't worry John, it's not to much of a hike". Ugh!!! Not
another hike This one wasn't nearly as bad. Image in Jim Thorpe, Pa.

When all the images are done, I'll post a Flickr link if you all are interested.

Are those footrests on the front of the car so you can stand there to reach into the engine compartment?

I do not know the answer but to me this is one UGLY auto. Cars today are not very attractive as they used to be in my opinion; however you may just say that I'm an old geezer, I do not care. Bring back a modern car that looks like a 57 Ford or a Chevy. Those were the days.

Well I'm and old geezer too, and maybe I'm preferable to the older Vette's as one may guess, and a lot of my friends are into the 50's cars, but you sir, are in the minority saying that new Vette is ugly.

That's why we all have opinions and I respect everyone who likes that car. I just feel, like today's diesels, most autos really are no longer nice looking in comparison to the classic ones from years gone by.

My opinion of the car. I felt it was absoultley dreadful
when I first saw some of the first photos of it. In seeing
a few pass by on the street, I started liking it more and
more. This was actually the first on I was up close and
personal with, and just loved it. I still think it's a bit
of a busy design, but, I was really impressed. And,
as was stated earlier, we all have opinions, and to me,
it's a great thing.

It's beautiful. Can any of us afford to buy one?

Depending on my end of year bonus, I could afford a door, maybe.
I will claim ownership of the new red Elantra GT in the background. There's
no even such a thing as a cheap Hyundai anymore.

I really like the vantage point of your second two photos. I love spending time in the Lehigh Gorge and photographing trains, so the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway (and the occasional daylight NS freight) make it all the better. If you don't mind sharing, how did you reach the those vantage points? I know the first one seems to be up on the old tunnel, which is neat in itself to check out.
