A Fall Color Excursion on the Little River Railroad
Author: ngfan

Sunday 10/19/14 at Coldwater, Michigan to ride the Little River RR steam excursion pulled by 110 was a great ride for a sold out train of over 200 passengers. Trip was east to Quincy and return lasting approx 2 hours. 110 pulled the train in each direction after running around at Quincy following a 15 min stop.

Cars were of assorted heritage. A couple of CMSP&P Hiawatha coaches since repainted in Pullman Green. Also a WW2 Pullman troop car reborn as a concession car. Two "cattle cars " for people to get the open air experience. Finally two cabooses for charter.

Reasonably priced tickets makes this affordable to one an all. Riders were kids of all ages, from babies to grannies with walkers!

Attached are several, stills and a short video of 110' whistle and movement.

Top: #115. Waiting to head for Quincy
Middle: 110 from track level
Bottom: Coldwater's current depot track side and original beyond the flasher to the far right

Bottom phoTo showing 110 pull the train set to clear the west switch so cars can be pushed on siding to clear main for weekday freight service. Next weekend the passenger train runs again on Saturday night and Sunday.

It's always good to see coverage of this wonderful operation here.
