Unless I missed something prior to the "Cheyenne Roundhouse Cleanout" thread
(http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?10,3549951), I don't really
see any sources for this information. Can somebody cite a factual source for
this? Without wishing to get into anything about the pros/cons of the current
steam program management or the future of the program itself, just knowing how
limited the UP facilities in Denver are compared to Cheyenne makes me wonder how
true this is, or if something got "mangled" in the telling.

Followup question: Are we to understand that the UP Steam Program is moving (being moved, whatever) to Denver? What is the basis for this speculation? If I have missed this, forgive me, lots of threads and I don't see them all.

Why are the sources necessarily important here? I get that everyone wants to fact-check the comments that have been made, but the reality is that dear-leader is watching the forums and other communities for "leaks". Therefore I doubt that anyone would publicly name one of those sources that have commented privately. I could be wrong, I'm sure someone in the know will chime in here eventually.

Nobody wants anyone to get in trouble for letting us in on
what is really happening. The problem is that a lot of people
who really don't know what is happening never-the-less insist
that they know the "true" state of affairs, and things
quickly degenerate into hearsay and sometimes complete fabrication.
There are individuals on this board who (either using pseudonyms or
their real names) have shown that they have access to factual
information concerning the steam program. Not having seen them
"weigh in" on the subject (though I could have easily missed the posts)
makes me doubt what I'm reading.

Fair enough, I don't have any information to share was just offering a counter-point.

Asking for proof was my retort on the other thread as well. We've always joked about there being three modes of communication on the railroad. Telegraph, telephone, tele-railroader. I seem to think some of it is true and others are speculation and gossip. I sure hope they get something figured out there and quick for the sake of the program.

That whole thread started because the model railroad club was being kicked out. Has anybody else contacted them about this move?

I think the posts from HotWater, Realist, EmpireBuilder, et al on these topics have proven to be reliable and factual for the most part. No reason to suspect otherwise IMHO.

Ok the railroad club has not been kicked out. I am a member and we are still in the roundhouse. We were asked to move our trailers and that is it. As for cleanup there are something's in the roundhouse that have been removed and stuff appears to be reorganized. I was in the roundhouse this last week and that is what I have observed.

If you come to TO and you're new to what's going on, it might take you awhile to figure out who knows what and what may be factual when posts are coming from anonymous handles of people here on the internet. So if you repeat information that you read on TRAINS Magazine or from official UP sources, then prepare for vigorous dispute of that information from posters here. I know I've asked questions based on things I have overheard Ed say or things that he has said to me directly when I was asking questions about UP Steam during some of my visits to 4014 as it was being prepped for transport. You won't find some of the responses to those threads in a search because many replies were deleted (which is how moderation is done here) because things got heated. As an example, Ed one day referenced "experimental" things done to 3985 that need to be "undone." I asked about that in a thread here that did not go well. At any rate, there are certainly connected people here on TO who have intel on what's going on, and it's sadly nothing good.

And nice to hear for once someone who knows as tried to follow the other thread and it went into normal let me get my opinion in even if it is just the normal I hate someone thread. It sounded like uninformed bs from the start.

It's an informal Discussion site about Trains. Corporate issues stay on company letterhead (even an e-mail) with a Proprietary Disclosure Statement. That's how it is in the Corporate world. If there's a Federal Accident Report, that's a different story as it becomes Public record at some point.

If someone sees something from the street, or if someone overheard a discussion, it might be a clue that something is going on but it's hardly proof. If you want to believe something that's a personal decision, with someone's own, personal qualifier's and choices.

That said, it sure doesn't sound good.

Most comments on TO about UP's steam program is uninformed BS from the start.

For being uniformed BS it sure has been pretty damn close to the mark so far.

A few of the fidiots (and dear leader's snitches) on
here just cannot stand seeing their wonderful dreams,
fantasies and hero getting clobbered by a bunch of
unruly, inconvenient facts.

You can prove your claims how? One of the model railroader from the group you say was kicked out of the roundhouse just proved you wrong. Nobody on train order knows what is truly going on with Union Pacific Steam program. It's all BS because on TO people doesn't have anything better to do than start more rumors and stir the pot of crap. It would be nice to go a few weeks even a week without seeing a post on here about made up rumors about what going on with UP and it's steam program

They were told to get some of their stuff off the
property.

So, exactly what has been "made up?"

About this or anything else?

Just because you don't or won't believe it doesn't
mean anything to anybody but you.
