Date: 10/31/14 21:10 Re: Union Pacific #844 Author: UP6936 I don't think it is Frontier Days since the first two cars seem to be in the two tone gray scheme.
Date: 10/31/14 21:19 Re: Union Pacific #844 Author: davew833 First two cars are probably fluted stainless that looks gray in the picture. Clearly not UP cars.
Date: 11/01/14 08:07 Re: Union Pacific #844 Author: Bob3985 I will have to dig out my book on the history of UP excursions but that may have likely been an NRHS or Rocky Mountain Railroad Club trip.

That's what I wondered. The locomotive was numbered 8444 in 1962 when they received the GP-30. According to my book that was likely 1961 as they ran three trips west out of Cheyenne. 5/28/61 was the Golden West Railfans one way to Ogden 6/11/61 was the Illini Railroad Club round trip to Rawlins 11/11/61 was the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society trip one way to Ogden. I don't think I would venture to guess which trip this would have been but with the non-system cars up front it had to be ne of these. Great photo Ed with Tower A in the background and headed west under the C&S overpass bridge.
