Logging mallet on "Superman" TV program.
Author: K3HX

Something of a stretch......

An early (1951) episode of "The Adventures of Superman" titled "Ghost Wolf"
has a sequence of an intrepid trio of Daily Planet reporters (Lois Lane, Jimmy Olson and
Clark Kent) riding in the caboose of a logging train pulled by what appeared
to be a 2-6-6-2 (?).
There is about 12 seconds of the logging engine on a trestle.

Seen on our local Pittsburgh, PA "retro-tv" channel.

Enjoy!

Be well,

Tim Colbert K3HX

I wondered why I was paying $1.99 to check out your post. IT WAS WORTH IT!!

That is Weyerheauser Timber #4 at work on the Klamath Falls operation. Neat (but short) footage!!!

LoggerHogger:

Glad you enjoyed the program.

I enjoy your posts of vintage rolling stock.

ProAmtrak:

Episode was not awful. The premise was that a were-wolf
was scaring away the lumberjacks that cut the pulpwood
used to make newsprint for the Daily Planet.

In the start of the 1950's Superman show there is a railroad shot. Believe an SP GS Daylight loco is shown. Is it in the San Fernando Valley Los Angeles CA.

Yes, WTCo #4 became Sierra #38 and later Rayonier #38.
