Steam & Excursion > Steaming In Spectacular Scenery With American Classics!Date: 11/26/14 03:51 Steaming In Spectacular Scenery With American Classics! Author: LoggerHogger Few could dispute that the White Pass & Yukon Ry operates in some of the most amazing scenery of any railroad in North America. This photo amply demonstrates that point.
We are dockside in July 1954 at Skagway, Alaska with 1938-built Baldwin 3' gauge #70 as her train prepares to depart. The engineer for #70 looks back either to get his signal or to gaze on the new 1954 Chevy that has been loaded onto one of the flat cars of his train for the trip north. It is hard to imagine a more beautiful scene of steam railroading in the 1950's. Martin Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 11/26/14 04:00 by LoggerHogger. Chris Date: 11/26/14 07:48 Re: Steaming In Spectacular Scenery With American Class Author: LoggerHogger Chris,
I wondered about that. Thus the date on the negative must be off a year or 2. Martin Date: 11/26/14 10:18 Re: Steaming In Spectacular Scenery With American Class Author: spnudge Martin,
You sure can come up with some great pics. Thanks, Nudge Date: 11/26/14 12:57 Re: Steaming In Spectacular Scenery With American Class Author: Keystone1 Yes...'55 Chevy. Maybe new, being delivered.
Date: 11/26/14 14:11 Re: Steaming In Spectacular Scenery With American Class Author: nycman It might only be off by a couple of months, as new models came out in September then. None of that matters. The beauty of the scene is what matters, and thanks, Martin.
