New Haven 1331
Author: choochoocharlie

NYNH&H #1331 at the Waterbury, Connecticut roundhouse in the late 1940s. If you look carefully, you can see me in the photo too. #1331 was an I-2 class 4-6-2 built by ALCO in 1913.

Charlie:

Very Awesome image! I've been saving all of your New Haven images for my layout. I was in Waterbury and Stamford a few weeks ago to attend the New Haven RR Historical Society Annual Meeting. While there I met a tower operator who may have known your Dad. His Name is Gordon Wheeler. He was one of the Bank Street Tower operators and was stationed there from 1937 to 1955. He closed the tower the night the flood came! Gordon is 98 years old. He remembered every detail of the area and the Railroad Operations in and out of Waterbury. I showed him all of your Dad's photos that you have been sharing with us. He loved them as well. Robert Gross

Good to see you back. Great gritty B/W railroad scene.

Thanks!
