1225 and The Perfect Storm
Author: Labby

What a difference a year makes! Last year on Sunday, December 22nd, the City of Owosso was hit with the perfect storm. There was plenty of snow on the ground and on the trees when an ice storm arrived to do its part. About three o'clock in the morning most of the City lost power and that outage lasted, for many, past Christmas day. The SRI cancelled the morning run of the North Pole Express but did run the afternoon train; though it was shoved by a diesel and the engine was just making smoke and blowing the whistle. Today in Owosso the temperature will probably get to the high thirties (F) and the sky appears normal; like living under a gray dome. Snow? Well, the 1225 hasn't seen much of that this year. But! Today both trains are sold out and the 1225 sounded just great working her way up the grade out of the Shiawassee River Valley.

Please take a look at the last North Pole Express from 2013 and as you look at it, think that there are no lights on anywhere except the 1225!

Happy Holidays!

Yea, neat photo. Last winter to quote and overused phrase was the best of times and the worst of times.
