Steam & Excursion > D&RGW NG restoration in Ogden UT questionDate: 02/22/15 16:27 D&RGW NG restoration in Ogden UT question Author: czuleget There is a small group in Ogden UT, restoring a D&RGW Narrow Gauge steam engine. I stopped by two plus years ago and they had just finished up the rebuild of the tender, is there any news on the locomotive status it self.
I will add a little bit more info. Owner: Denver & Rio Grande Western Model: Alco 2-8-0 Built As: D&RG 223 (2-8-0) Serial Number: 1436 Order No: Frame Number: Built: 0/1882 Notes: Class C-16 built by Grant Other locos with this serial: DRGW 223(2-8-0 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%26RGW_223 Edited 3 time(s). They pay for everything as they go.. If they restore it to operational they have to get a new boiler and the axles is bent and possibly the frame. Story is it move while on display and some genius bent the axle and frame to keep it from moving. They have been working on it for 20+ years already..

Here is my friend Jimmy Booth's live steam model of #223. Last time I posted this, someone thought the real one had been completed. ;) Would be a neat thing to have a C-16 in operation. #268 and #278 are stuffed and mounted. his latest to be released shortly comes as a result of swooping in and saving the O scale SP GS gon after the untimely death of John Parker. Jimmy's O scale (Glacier Park Models) efforts rival those of that Bill guy's Sn3 "stuff".
