Cheyenne from the air
Author: drgw0579

In November 2005 I was treated to a trip over Sherman Hill in a friends airplane. This was what I was most interested in photographing.

They haven't changed that much. Here is a live shot courtesy of DL's work from the past few years..

That's a great shot. I want to point out a few of things that were new in that picture:
1. - Look at the nice new roofs on both buildings.
2. - Note the new awning over the Diesel Shop entry area so we had cover over our vehicles and ourselves. You can just see the corner of it.
3. - The 3 baggage cars in a row were just put into place and provided a run through storage shed for the mini train that Steve stepped up and not only saved, but added to the department.
4. - The 3 baggage cars side by side on the whiskers were meant to be storage for the UPHS if I remember correctly.

These are a few things done by Steve out of the kindness of his heart, without a special budget when he didn't have to. Just the kind of man he is.

Dave, we (UPHS) were allowed to use one of the baggage cars for cold storage of the drawings we have scanned and our overrun magazines. It now is just south (below) the minitrain storage cars along with a few other baggage cars.

This photo would be some time before 2010. It was when Steve was still there. The silver baggage car to the left of the roundhouse is the car the UPHS has their stuff in. There have been more baggage cars placed there since. I see the E's are together on the west side of the shop too. UP949 has been absent for a while as well.

Look close at the last photo. The 96 is sitting on the straight lineup stall off the turntable.

Yes I see it there, but what about today? Is is still outside? I didn't see it in the roundhouse last time I was in there (May) but there's a lot in there I didn't see.

96 was removed from service shortly after the hostile
takeover. Been sitting outside ever since.
