Steam & Excursion > Old and new boiler, but for what locomotive?Date: 02/28/15 09:48 Old and new boiler, but for what locomotive? Author: WrongWayMurphy At the Texas State RR in Rusk, TX. On my way back to Tyler from Lufkin I popped in
at the back end of the Rusk shop and spotted these two boilers, and empty frame assy. Anyone know which loke is in these pieces? It was cold and no one was outside to ask. I guess I could have gone inside but was concerned I might not have been welcomed even though there was no one available to ask permission to come aboard in the first place. Date: 02/28/15 14:18 Re: Old and new boiler, but for what locomotive? Author: Earlk The first boiler is from SP 1744. 1744's running gear is in Alamosa, CO.
The second boiler is a new boiler for TSR 500 - former ATSF 1316, a 4-6-2. The boiler-less running gear also belongs to 1316. There are significant problems with the boiler for 1316. It will need a lot reworking before it can be used. It was built in the early 2000's and it's 15 year time will likely expire before the boiler is ever mounted on the running gear.
