Good stuff Roger.  Wonder by the engine slows on curves and then picks up speed on straight aways?  Curves were not that sharp.

Those are a couple of places with some history of soft track, especially in the Spring.  The crew on the train was all old heads--they know where and when to be cautious for any potential problems, especially with the first trains over the line since last fall.

She has such a haunting whistle. I sure wish I could have seen her work over Marshall Pass.

What is the make and model of the whistle, and how many chimes? Were these whistles normally found on K-27s?

I don't know the make and model of the whistle.  It is a single-chime "hooter," and they were apparently pretty common on the older D&RG narrow gauge engines.  Check out  the movie "Denver & Rio Grande" or "Ticket to Tomahawk" and you will hear them on those locomotives.  In person, 463's whistle is, in my opinion, about the loudest of any of the C&TS locomotive whistles--it will get your attention.

Thanks for your effort. It was an excellent video. My 83 yr. old wife said "It's been  long time since I have heard that sound"  (stream engine stack sounds)
